Bible Society Australia brings about hope and change through literacy, using the Bible. Their work extends to the far reaches of the globe releasing people from oppression, poverty and injustice. KNGDM collaborates with Bible Society through storytelling and campaigns, to connect donors to projects built on values from over 100 years of service.

‘I believe that I am blind’, was the testimony of one woman who unable to read, felt she couldn’t function as a member of society and had little self worth. This ‘blindness’ attests to the spiritual poverty of those who cannot access God’s word due to illiteracy. The Pakistan Appeal particularly campaigned for the plight of women in poverty. Literacy as a solution can bring social inclusion, self worth, and connection to God through the Bible. It can transform entire families.

The title, ‘Give Pakistani women light no one can put out’ was created and supported with the motif of fractured light in colour as if through a prism – just as the light of literacy gives Pakistani women empowerment, hope and vitality through God’s word and essential life skills. The gift of literacy is passed on to their families and future generations. The images were selected for their strong colour palette and moments of strength and dignity to celebrate these women and their newfound hope.
